In Beyond Earth I typically accessed to diplomatic panel only when I wanted to declare war, sue for peace, or request an ally open his or her borders. It all revolves around the idea of diplomatic capital, a new kind of currency earned through trade agreements that can be spent on trade agreements of your own as well as the development of specific traits for your leader that offer various sorts of military and growth bonuses. One of the boldest changes brought by Rising Tide is a completely revamped diplomacy system designed to give character to the game’s otherwise pretty bland colonial leaders and provide more reason to care about relationships between them.
